Civil construction

Civil work planned for the conditions on site.

PRCD self-performs civil construction and coordinates the people, plant, suppliers and specialist trades required for the package. The work method is developed around access, ground conditions, operating interfaces and the client programme.

Delivery model

PRCD controls the civil package.

Core civil construction is self-performed. Controlled suppliers, wet-hire plant and specialist subcontractors are brought into the delivery team when the work requires them.

Direct construction

PRCD manages the work front, supervision, sequencing, civil activities and daily coordination.

Managed supply chain

Suppliers and subcontractors are selected and managed through documented review, monitoring and audit processes.

Design boundary

PRCD can contribute constructability and site input. Formal design and primary design liability remain with the appointed qualified designer or engineer.

Civil scope

Earthworks and infrastructure for the operating requirement.

PRCD can deliver a defined civil package or integrate the civil work with pipeline, site-service and project-delivery requirements.

01

Site preparation

Clearing, grubbing, stripping, access preparation and work-front establishment.

02

Earthworks

Bulk and detailed excavation, cut and fill, trenching, bedding, backfill and compaction.

03

Roads and hardstands

Access roads, haul roads, repairs, laydown areas, equipment pads and hardstands.

04

Drainage and crossings

Stormwater systems, culverts, headwalls, crossings and erosion controls.

05

Concrete construction

Slabs, footings, plinths, pits, foundations and project-specific concrete work.

06

Services and utilities

Underground services, utility interfaces and associated excavation and reinstatement.

07

Water earthworks

Dams, ponds, drainage structures and water-retaining earthworks within the approved design.

08

Reinstatement

Demolition, removal, rehabilitation, fencing, gates and site reinstatement.

Delivery environments

Civil work for new sites and active operations.

The package is planned to account for site access, live services, operating interfaces, environmental conditions and programme constraints.

Optional project reporting support

Drone survey and progress capture can support civil works reviews and client updates where the scope, site permissions and partner requirements are confirmed. Review the drone service.

Facilities infrastructure interface

Pads, footings, access, drainage and external works can form part of a broader demountable or modular building package. Review Facilities Management.

Planning the package

Start with the documents. Confirm them against the site.

PRCD can price from a tender or job package, but recommends a site inspection before the proposal is finalised. The inspection helps test quantities, access, ground conditions, services, interfaces and construction sequencing.

  1. 01

    Review scope and design

Check drawings, specifications, quantities, responsibilities and client deliverables.

  2. 02

    Inspect the work area

Review access, services, ground conditions, environmental controls and operating constraints.

  3. 03

    Build the methodology

Set the sequence, resources, plant, temporary works, subcontractors and inspection points.

  4. 04

    Confirm the proposal

State the delivery approach, programme, assumptions, exclusions and required client inputs.

Records and handover

The record set follows the work performed.

Safety, quality and environmental controls are established before mobilisation. Inspection points, survey requirements, testing, completed-work records and handover documents are then matched to the package and client specification.

Proven civil delivery

Civil work integrated with a major mine-water pipeline programme.

The civil scope behind PRCD's delivery record includes survey and set-out, clearing, trenching, bedding, dewatering, road and watercourse crossings, backfill, compaction, access and reinstatement for a major Tier 1 Bowen Basin mine-water programme.

Project teams, plant providers, suppliers and specialist partners were coordinated as the work expanded into bulk civil activity, test pits, grubbing, clearing and additional pipeline packages.
